What you’ll be doing
You’ll be leading the Store Design team to deliver high quality, on brand floor plans and layouts, in line with the latest concept for refits, new stores and store refurbishments. You’ll also be managing the development and application of the store concept across formats, optimising external branding, showrooms, trade areas and ancillary space to maximise operational efficiencies and provide a compliant and premium environment within cost and time constraints.
You’ll take ownership of the retail design manual, including refinement and development of space optimisation, branding specifications, FF&E production details, materials, M&E performance specifications, cost efficiencies and all associated technical detail. You’ll also be preparing visuals and detailed drawings packs and specifications in line with standard RIBA stages for new stores, refurbishments and refreshments from brief, to design intent, tender, construction and post construction.
You’ll be liaising with internal stakeholders; marketing, product development, IT, operations and others, from brief to completion, including gathering and applying all relevant technical detail, operational imperatives, brand standards and kitchen display standards. You’ll also be liaising with external architects, surveyors, contractors and suppliers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of planning applications, landlord packs, design and project information. Proactively resolving all planning, design, cost and technical issues.
You’ll be managing the production and ordering of detailed kitchen designs for showrooms, liaising with design and delivery teams to ensure on time, on brand accurate delivery of showroom displays. You’ll also be supporting in the assessment and feasibility of existing and new sites, by delivering base plan and branding proposals as required. You’ll also be reviewing and refining processes to ensure fit for purpose and working with the Head of Store Development and other key stakeholders to create improvements.
What you’ll get in return
You’ll have a BA (Hons) Degree in Architectural Interior Design or similar. You’ll have a proven working knowledge of internal and external premium, multi-site retail design, space planning, signage, FF&E, services, materials and finishes, procurement and cost management.
You’ll have demonstrable working knowledge of key stage project delivery from brief to project completion. You’ll also have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to lead a small internal team and manage external suppliers, to work within a team and cross functionally, calmly and flexibly under pressure, multi task, prioritise and work to strict deadlines and quality standards.
You’ll be passionate about retail design, problem solving attitude with a keen eye for quality, accuracy and detail. You’ll also have excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD essential. SketchUp, Solidworks, Vectorworks and other design software packages. preferable. Good working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office software is essential. Knowledge of SAP preferable.
